Baby Yoga is a great fun way for parents and babies to get to know each other better through safe and gentle playful exercises that help babies explore their own movements, giving them greater confidence and helping their balance and co-ordination to develop.
Some of the moves stimulate their digestive system helping to alleviate the common problems of trapped wind and sluggish bowel movements. Parents learn to handle their baby with confidence and to read and respond to their baby’s cues - nothing is forced ensuring a happy experience for all.
For Mums and babies it can be a great opportunity to spend some quality time together, especially if there are older children in the family, and it can help heal the trauma of a difficult birth experience and promote great bonding.
There is also the opportunity to stretch aching backs and shoulders and for Mums to regain abdominal & pelvic floor tone through exercises coupled with deep breathing.
For many the favourite part is the relaxation at the end of class, which can be lying down, feeding or walking and rocking, helping parents to cope with the stresses of early parenting and instilling in babies the life skill of how to relax! Baby Yoga can help babies to be more settled and can improve their digestion and sleep which in turn helps parents enjoy babies more. Baby Yoga is suitable for babies from 6weeks – 10months or crawling and Dads/or other family members are very welcome too.
